ZEC Rules (rev. Jun. 20, 1995)
1. The ZEC (Zone EchoMail Coordinator) conference is an administrative
echo designed to provide access to the Zone 1 EchoMail Coordinator.
2. Issues raised in this conference must be zonewide issues not restricted
to any one backbone or distribution system, unless the operators of that
system are seeking the ZEC's advice and assistance and must be related to
EchoMail.
3. This conference may not be gated into any Network other than FidoNet
without the prior approval of the moderator(s). Access is restricted to
FidoNet SysOps and those individuals having business with the ZEC.
4. As an administrative echo, users are required to post using their
nodelisted names. The use of aliases is not permitted.
5. When issues of concern are raised, some latitude will be allowed for
participants to discuss these matters amongst themselves, but in general,
messages should be either to or from the ZEC. The "latitude" will end
at the moderator(s) discretion.
6. The moderator(s) reserve(s) the right to declare any thread off-topic
when, in their opinion, it becomes counter-productive or otherwise
interfers with the smooth running of the conference.
7. Flaming, namecalling, personal insults, and all gutter or bathroom
language is strictly forbidden.
8. Leave the moderating to the moderator(s). Any discussion regarding the
decisions of the moderator(s) or the rules of this echo should be handled
via NetMail to one or both of the moderators.
9. When a conference rule has been violated, the moderator(s) will attempt
to contact the offender via NetMail to ensure that he/she is cognizant of
the rules and the perceived violation. If a second violation occurs from
the same participant, the moderator(s) will then attempt a second NetMail
message, this time, warning of possible action to follow upon further
violation.
10. The possible actions consist of, but are not limited to, reducing
access to read-only, voluntary non-participation, and/or temporary
or permanent loss of access to the conference. A participant's past
history in the conference will be taken into account when determining which
of the possible actions will be taken. In cases of gross violation of the
conference rules, the moderator(s) reserve the right to take emergency
action at their discretion.
11. Treat others how you would have them treat you, write to people as if
they were in the same room with you, and above all else, HAVE FUN!
